SCS: Samples Confirmed, Move to Order

It’s now been a couple of weeks since the last post, but true to our supplier’s estimations the second round of design #2 samples came in this week – reflecting the changes required. The changes were made exactly as required and we are all happy to know that we now have another sellable product on our hands.

SCS: Samples Arrive!

Last week was a huge week for the project! The first-round samples of the initial design arrived from all 3 suppliers, with 2 of the suppliers actually sending the sample of the 2nd design as well. Talk about impressive and fast!

SCS: New Designs

In waiting for our first round of samples to come through, our partners have had a chance to show some retailers and distributors sketches of our design. Any feedback we can gather will help us in this manufacturing journey and hopefully give us confidence that we are heading in the right direction.

SCS: Sample Production Continued

In a continuation from the last post, our sample production transaction began with proforma invoices received from all of the suppliers in either excel spreadsheet or PDF formats. It’s important to check and double check the invoice and delivery details, making sure you’ve included a telephone number as sometimes customs won’t process incoming packages without sufficient details.

Sourcing Case Study: Manufacturing is Go!

The meeting went amazingly well, and we’ve all agreed to go the manufacturing route. Since the last post, we have received several good leads, giving us more reasons to follow the manufacturing side. The prices we are currently being offered far outweigh the any potential brand power reselling may offer and to be honest, the creativity offered by manufacturing and branding as opposed to reselling in this case has us all excited.

We’ve actually received a couple of responses today, from the hundreds of emails sent out yesterday. It is actually quite early to expect any kind of response, and whilst we haven’t heard from many retail stores as yet, there have been quite a few lightning-fast replies from manufacturers, particularly in the Asia region.

Sourcing Case Study: The Project and Early Investigations

Ok, so to give you a run-through of the project, we are being asked to participate in a joint venture which requires us to source a particular style of winter jacket for sale in our partners given market. We are assured that the distribution and post-sourcing sales of the units will be taken care of, assuming we can source the product at less than $50 per piece, delivered and included any taxes that may be charged.
